The purpose of this survey is to help identify the training needs of colleges and universities in the areas of safety and security. The Texas School Safety Center has been asked by the 80th Legislature in 2007 (SB11) to provide safety training and technical assistance to Texas state colleges and universities. Your responses will provide the necessary guidance in developing a program consistent with the safety and security interests of higher education institutions. Emergency Management for Higher Education (EMHE) grant program (CFDA #84.184T) is designed to fund higher education institution projects to develop, or review and improve, and fully integrate, campus-based all-hazards emergency management planning efforts within the framework of the four phases of emergency management [Prevention-Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery]. The Texas School Safety Center is developing resources, training, and technical assistance for institutions of higher education. This page on our website will be dedicated to sharing those resources. Senate Bill 11 (80r) (b) An institution of higher education may use any appropriate model plan developed by the center under Section 37.205(4). (c) The center may provide an institution of higher education with on-site technical assistance and safety training. (d) The center may charge a fee to an institution of higher education for assistance and training provided under Subsection (c).
